You can run, but you can't hide!!

Hey again,
wasn't intending to post from Sydney, but a funny thing happened (on the
way to the hostel!) I got off the train from the airport, and was walking
along a tunnel to the exit. I could hear this guy talking into a
microphone. However, as I stepped out of the tunnel into the street, he
suddenly broke into song "At the Copa, Copacabana..." I had to look over to
check that it wasn't someone I know. how bizarre!!
Off to listen to Julie now!

Cup Half Full!

Call me a "Cockeyed Optimist" if you will ... (pause for obvious jokes) ...
but 50% is a great position for ticket sales with 9 weeks to go!

Lets all push for a "sell out"!! It's a great feeling and really boosts
confidence during the show week. If you discount Kiss Me Kate (as the
theatre only held 200 souls) this could be our first Sell Out since The
King And I back in 1998! 10 Years!!

Come on, Theatre Guild! Let's do it!!

Caribbean Holiday

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know Karen and I will be in the Caribbean from tomorrow -
avoiding any pirates hanging around the Dominican Republic and listening
out for the Congas, the Timbales, the Bongos and the Claves, AY AY AY AY
Caramba.

I'll also be looking to shake my maracas at every opportunity - whilst
soaking up the sun by the side of the pool.

C U all 5th Aug

Hey!

Well, I've had my groundhog day (when I arrived in Hawaii before I left
Sydney crossing the international date line) What a weird day that was!!
And now I'm in San Francisco. Having a fab time. Hope it's sunny where you
are!!

ISAGSTA

Hey, you guys!! I was feeling distinctly homesick for you all this
afternoon. I went to see a comedy show called "Beach Blanket Babylon". It's
the longest running all singing, all dancing current affairs sketch show in
San Francisco. They are famous for BIG wigs and ENORMOUS hats (taller than
a person standing on the balcony!!) The story follows Snow White on a
round-the-world trip to find her prince (hmm... that sounds...familiar...!)

But I wish you had all been there to see the tropical girl in her pineapple
and feather headdress burst into "My name is Lola, I am a showgirl...!"
followed by 'Al Gore' singing "it's too darn hot"! I even had a wry smile
when 'Tiger Woods' sang "It don't mean a thing..."!
Anyone heading in this direction must see it! See you all soon!

ISAGSTA cont'd

I also forgot about them going to Japan and singing "Yoooooooookahama where
the wind comes sweeping down the plain", and even the Village people
singing YMCA made me think of our own version of the after-show party
variety!!
See you all soon!

thing's look swell, thing's look great....

Hey, guys

just to say I won't be with you on Tuesday. That's because I don't get home
till Thursday from New York. But I'll be thinking of you while I'm sitting
watching "Gypsy". "If you wanna bump it, bump it with a trumpet!" But I
promise I'll listen to Julie before I go out!!
See you all soon!

ISAGS....

You guys....
I'm sure you're fed up of my posts, but here goes anyway.
Last night, I saw "The Little Mermaid" which I did not have high hope for.
It was excellent. And do you want to know the secret to looking like you're
swimming underwater? Heelies. yes, the scourge of shopping centres around
the world. Every water-based character had their own customised pair! How
bizarre! But it was amazing, and I felt like I was at a carnival during
"Under the Sea". Can't wait till that comes to the west end.
Tonight, I just got back from "A Chorus Line". Amazing! And I had quite a
few tears in the eyes during it. But, watching them perform "ONE" made me
want to start a Kick line across Times Square! Walking back to the hostel,
I had to stop myself grabbing people to do it!!
Incidentally, I couldn't be more central. Planet Hollywood is at the corner
of the street, and the Lion King is across the street. In 30 seconds I can
be in Times Square. And all for 20 quid a night!!

Casino Night Sign Up!!

Just a last reminder that tomorrow night (Tuesday 5th) will be the last
chance to sign up to the Casino Night on the 15th!

Karen Brown has done a great job organising this event with casino games, a
disco, a buffet and the world famous Human Fruit Machine all wrapped up in
a "Heroes and Villains" theme!

Don't miss it! Buy your ticket(s) from Karen (just £10) on Tuesday -
friends and family welcome!

Thanks Everyone!

My thanks to everyone who have contributed to the Chat and Just4Fun pages
over the holidays. I'm sure our combined ramblings have brought many
smiles to our members over the dark summer month (Glasgow weather, eh?)!!

Don't let it stop there ... feel free to contribute to any of the chat
boards to tell us some news, share a joke or spread the word about a great
show you saw recently!

See you all at rehearsals!

Welcome home ...

... we-e-e-lcome! Welcome back, Alyson! It's been great to follow your
adventures over the past few weeks! Be sure to bring some piccies to
rehearsal! You've been called for 2pm on Sunday, by the way!

and finally....

Well, I'm just waiting for the shuttle to the airport, so I thought I'd
send one more message. Incidentally, I just saw "Abby" from ER at the 42nd
street subway. Is it bad that I followed her out the wrong entrance to
check it was her?
So, on Monday I went to see [title of show], a show about two out of work
actors trying to write a show(the actual plot is what happened to the two
writers!). Very, very funny. it's 4 people, 4 chairs and a guy on a
keyboard. You must see it!
Then, last night I saw "Gypsy". It was fantastic. Except the "big star"
Patti LuPone was very disappointing as Rose. Every note she sang was flat
as a pancake. (maybe it was meant to be that way?!)but, I can't wait to
tell Moira, Suzy and Vicky about "Gimmick". That's a blast!! The women
playing the roles were 60 if they were a day!! The one with the lights
could barely put one foot in front of the other!. She played it like a
doddery old lady!
thanks for the 'heads up' Cammy. See you all then!
