Susan Kerr

Susan Kerr

Susan's first ever performance was singing "The Song Of The Clyde" in front of her entire school aged just 11. Despite this trauma, Susan was bitten by the performing bug and went on to bigger and better things. She joined Renfrew Amateur Theatre Society (RATS) and appeared in several plays and musicals. These included a production of The Wizard of Oz where she was challenged to play the Scarecrow with only a few weeks rehearsal!

Susan first joined Theatre Guild for our production of Anything Goes in 2001 where she welcomed us aboard the 'S.S. American' with a short duet (with Cammy). Next she played a sexy harmonising tree in our 2002 production of The Wizard of Oz and she followed this with the role of 'Ursula' (Vittorio Vidal's tempestuous love interest) in our 2003 production of Sweet Charity. Throughout this time Susan spent what she calls "four fun packed winters" in our busy Concert Party.

Since 2003 Susan's busy off stage role (she tells us that she is overworked by a payroll company) has kept her off our stage and her contribution to Theatre Guild has been behind the scenes. We are glad to welcome her back into the limelight for our production of Kiss Me Kate.

Susan recalls a funny theatre story: "In one of the R.A.T.S plays that was actually written by the director, I played a very simple character. The writer didn't even bother to change the name of the character. So I was playing a complete moron called Susan, much to everyone's amusement."

(Susan's Secret: Susan tells me that her middle name is Mildred ... I'm not sure if that tells us more about her sense of humour or her parents'!!)
