| Suzanne Lowe
Suzanne joined Theatre Guild in 1986 as a dancer in Valley of Song. Her first principal role was as telephone operator, Gwen, in our 1989 production of Bells Are Ringing opposite her (then) new husband, Cameron.
During Theatre Guild's 'fund raising year' in 1994 she found time to play Consuela in Guy's and Gals' production of West Side Story and sang a duet with Cameron in Theatre Guild's revue Singing Our Songs. She followed this with a string of successful principal roles including Ado Annie in Theatre Guild's 1995 production of Oklahoma!, Dream Laurey in EKLOK's Oklahoma!, Katie Brown (Calamity Jane), Anna Leonowens (The King And I), Anne Pornick (Half-A Sixpence), Nellie Forbush (South Pacific), Chastity (!?) (Anything Goes), Charity Sweet Charity and she reprised her role as Ado Annie in our 2004 production of Oklahoma!. She returned in 2005 as Irene Molloy in Hello Dolly!, followed this with a dancing role in 2006 and played the part of "Dawn" in our 2007 production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
Suzy's first performance was in a dance display at the tender age of 7 to the tune of Jimmy Osmond's "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool". She can remember the occassion vividly and will recount the steps, the costume and the venue on request. Ironically most people find it difficult to remember Jimmy Osmond!
She is a BATD qualified dance teacher, was Assistant Choreographer for EKLOK's production of Brigadoon and danced at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh! When not on stage she tells us that she likes to "spend Cameron's money". She also Theatre Guild's busy Concert Co-ordinator - responsible for arranging bookings for concert shows between our main productions!
She tells us that her funniest moment on stage was during a dance routine in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. As the dancers stepped into a turn she stood on another dancer's skirt. Poor Silvana turned gracefully but left her skirt behind. She was left embarrased before a packed house in the Kings Theatre wearing only a brighly coloured top, black pants and fishnet tights!
(Suzy's Secret: She once danced as part of a support act for 80's pop 'legend', Christian)
