| Wilson Paterson
Wilson's stage history began some 30 years(!) ago when he appeared in a Pathfinders mime production as a church organist at the tender age of 7! His theatre credits are many and varied including Lord Boxington (My Fair Lady), Frank Schultz (Showboat) and Jud Fry (Oklahoma!) - all with East Kilbride Light Opera Club.
He joined Theatre Guild in 1996 to play Lt. Brannigan (Guys & Dolls) and has been on stage in every Guild production since then. His roles include Evelyn Oakleigh (Anything Goes), Lt. Harbison (South Pacific), Tin Man (The Wizard of Oz), Kralahome (The King and I) and his personal favourite: Harry Chitterlow (Half-A-Sixpence). He played Ali Hakim to great aclaim in our 2004 production of Oklahoma! and returned as the Judge the following year in Hello Dolly!
Since joining the Guild Wilson's reputation as a fine character actor made him a target for other Glasgow companies. For the Lyric Club he played Perkins (Crazy For You) and for Minerva Club he played Mayor (The Music Man), Avram (Fiddler On The Roof) and Claude Upson (Mame).
While serving on the committee he made a valuable contribution to modernising Theatre Guild by writing our constitution. When not treading the boards Wilson is a busy solicitor. Wilson retired from the club and committee in 2006.
He recalls an early experience on stage that may have shaped his life: "I was playing a lawyer(!!) in a church show based on Alice In Wonderland. The King of Hearts forgot his lines and no prompt came - the audience began to chatter. Quick as a flash I cried "Silence In Court!" which got a huge laugh while the King got his line!".
Wilson's secret: He is a Partick Thistle fan! (should have kept that one under your hat, Wilson!!)
